Although wine is produced in more than 60 countries of the world, only four countries, namely Italy, France, Spain and the US account for more than half of the world’s wine production of around 260mhl in total*.
The preliminary data from the International Organisation for Vine&Wine (OIV) for 2022 indicate that the world’s wine production remains fairly stable despite major challenges like drought and heat waves that were recorded in many wine regions.
The top four wine countries are followed by Chile, Australia, Argentina, South Africa, Germany and Portugal.
*The numbers are still preliminary because countries like Russia and China have not yet presented their harvest information (OIV, 2022)
